Embroidery Retreat 2010
Enjoy a weekend of fun with friends and your sewing and embroidery machine!
This year’s retreat begins on Friday, October 8th and ends Sunday, October 10th
. Classes start each morning at 9am and end at 5pm each day. A hot lunch (feast) is served between 12 noon and 1:30 pm giving everyone a chance to relax and enjoy a great meal. The catered lunches include some fantastic desserts plus both hot and cold beverages which are also available throughout the day. This year our special guest is Sharon, an educator from Brother International Corporation.
The cost for the 3-day retreat is $150 and includes teaching fees, all meals, project handouts, patterns and designs used for the classes. Early Bird Special: Sign Up by September 1st and Save $25!

We'll begin our retreat weekend with a great project in multi-hooping!
Using a simple and adorable elephant appliqué design, you'll learn how to quickly mark your fabric for continuous design placement as you embroider elephants across the top and bottom of your quilt. We added a mirror-image element just to keep you on your toes!
After our embroidery is complete, we'll do some piecing to construct the rest of our quilt before heading straight into machine quilting.

Help us welcome Brother International educator Sharon for a half day demonstration on the latest and greatest new attachments and gadgets that will be introduced this fall!
For the remainder of the day we'll be finishing up our machine quilting project. For those with Brother combination machines, we'll be using some of those fantastic machine quilting stitches that are 1 1/2" wide for our sashing areas! Then we'll quilt with a twist - using the embroidery hoop! After some basic ditch quilting we'll be hooping sections of the quilt and letting the embroidery machine quilt an elephant motif in our patchwork blocks.

Let's start the day with a more traditional type of appliqué using our sewing machine as we piece together a simple yet elegant table runner. Then we'll add a couple of embroidery designs to compliment our fabric and make our table runner really stand out!
