Quilter's "Boot" Camp

Start and finish a 60"x72" quilt in three short days! You'll learn the basics of quilting, piece your quilt top, add borders properly and load your quilt top on one of our longarm machines to machine quilt! We'll even cover binding application and have some fun along the way. The quilt pattern is super easy for the first time quilter, plus has a different twist to interest the more experienced quilter. So take a three-day break from housework and walk off with a completed quilt!

This time around the focus will shift from the beginner to the intermediate with an emphasis on getting those intersecting points perfect and enhancing your longarm quilting skills to include a simple shape for you to quilt. We'll show you a new way to attach your binding and still have time to have fun. The quilt pattern is strip-pieced so it will come together quickly and easily.

Blankie Buddies - The Bunny Buddy

Make this adorable stuffed animal/blanket for an adorable child. The blanket is attached to the back of the bunny's head so you can carry the bunny while holding the blanket. A must have for children, the Bunny Buddy (say that 3 times fast) is easy to put together and you will learn blanket binding application, fusible appliqué and some hand-embroidery.

LongArm Quilting Class - Beyond Stipple

This class is for experienced quilters who are ready to go beyond a basic meander. Merrilee will show you how to gain control of the free motion quilting machine and make it do what you want it to do. Suggestions will be made for alternative designs that can be used in “all over” quilting.
Prerequisite: Students MUST have participated in Boot Camp OR have previously rented time on the long arm machines. This is NOT a beginner class.

Fabulous Finishes

Join us in this finishing class and make 4 different contemporary placemats. Learn how to baste your quilt, do basic machine quilting and attach bindings. You'll learn to attach a continuous binding, a bias binding and mock bindings. We'll make one of each style placemat in class and you can make as many more as you need at home. Stack 'N Whackier Butterfly Quilt

From Bethany Reynold's book "Stack-N-Whackier Quilts" we will create mirror-imaged butterflies. This quilt requires fabric with the print visible from the backside, creating a luminous butterfly. We will discuss this special fabric at the first class. Previous Stack-N-Whack experience recommended.

Weaver's Fever

Make this easy strip-pieced quilt that looks like a woven version of an Irish chain quilt using Jackie Robinson's bargello-style technique. Although it appears difficult to make, you won't believe how easy it really is. The quilt measures 50"x60".

Embroidery Basics

LongArm Quilting Class - Beyond Stipple

This class is for experienced quilters who are ready to go beyond a basic meander. Merrilee will show you how to gain control of the free motion quilting machine and make it do what you want it to do. Suggestions will be made for alternative designs that can be used in “all over” quilting.
Prerequisite: Students MUST have participated in Boot Camp OR have previously rented time on the long arm machines. This is NOT a beginner class.
Class size is extremely limited, so early sign-up is highly recommended. A waiting list will be available for future dates.

Class Policy:
Class fees are due at time of registration and do not include materials. A sewing machine is required for all classes unless otherwise stated. Students receive a 10% discount on all class supplies purchased at Jackie Lynn's for our classes. Teachers may cancel a class due to low registrations, so if you are interested in a class you are urged to register as soon as possible. If a class is canceled, you may pick up your check at our store. All class fees should be made payable to the instructor. Class registration can be made in person or by mail. Supply lists will be given out at the store upon payment of the class. If you sign up by mail and wish the supply list to be sent to you, send a self-addressed, stamped envelope with your check when signing up by mail. Sorry, supply lists cannot be e-mailed. Registrations must be made at least one week prior to class.
Experience levels for the classes:
Level 1 = All Levels (no prior quilting experience necessary)
Level 2 = Basic quilting knowledge (understands rotary cutting, 1/4" seam, made at least one quilt)
Level 3 = Made 1-2 quilts, looking for a challenge
Level 4 = Intermediate/Advanced
